I was thinking about what I can do and wanted to put it out there for others to comment or add to this topic.
I have a very busy lifestyle where I work 70 hours a week on 2 jobs.
There are 3 places I listen to music. Commuting 100 miles a day to work or late in the evening before I go to bed and while I am on the computer or working in the garage on my home business.
I download more than what I listen to. I know this is an obsessive compulsive thing - hey it keeps me happy and not neurotic.
20 downloads in 3 hours is OK for me as I am not needing more than that at this time. If I listen to something that doesnt hit my fancy I an not going to do it for more than 15 minutes and I would not think it fair to vote if I had not listened to the whole thing. If I like something, Ill listen to it over and over for a week or 2 most likely earning a 9 or 10.
This is what I think I can do to help CC.
Donate every month and always check to see if we have met the goal.
Post 3 post a week in the forums to help with participation (look one here already)
Download - listen to - and vote on one set per week. This is about all I can do with my busy lifestyle.
At least I am thinking about and responding to the requests.
I also would love any PM from anybody and Ill try to spend some time in chat.
LONG LIVE CC

that sounds all good my dear.
hope lots of other members will do the same..
i wished they would think like you do.
well..i download maybe 1 set /week..and always vote for it in the dl section. most of the time also give comment.
hmm..well..not to moxas set tbh. think its clear that i love the sets..and most of the time i dont need to dl them here from cc... cause i already have them.
i donate every month 20-30 $..but for me, my donation has nothing to do with my downloads.
i have only one reason: i want to help kriz. i think he has so much work doing all this admins stuff. so it would be not fair if he has to pay anything more. he is student..and he can not pay all this alone.
if we would not reach the goal..he would have to pay the rest.
and i hate this.
is not fair.
so..if i download sets or not...i will donate every month. kriz will not get rid of me _________________ www.loonybeam.de

i really hope this lots of donations after the newsletter are not only a "one hit wonder".
i think everybody should be able to dontate 1$ every month.
but well..as long things are no obligation..people are lazy and selfish.
maybe things change now..finally. _________________ www.loonybeam.de

In my eyes, lot's of members here can take Beamy and the Airplaneman for exsample...
They do things in a very good way.......and always try to give votes or comments...
Hope many will follow there lead !!
And kris, good to see you could already use some of the extra money for a good perpous.......But this will benifit of course also the people who are lazy...and only slurp cc empty..... _________________ www.loonybeam.com

Moxa:
The primary reason is actually to give better service to our members based in Europe - and a lot of our "elite" members are european based, so i think thats fair enough |

Here's my take on how to get more feedback on the downloads ...
Essentially it comes down to this: for each download make a thread about it in DI.fm Live Playlist Comments style.
Why?
For me the navigation is rather cumbersome, and I'm not a n00b when it comes to the internet.
Sorry if that offended someone, because I know you're putting a lot of hard work into it and I definitely appreciate it
Let me explain why I think that.
I have to click several times in order to get to the download link. If I want to see comments ppl made on the set I have to click some more times. When I've downloaded the set and listened to it, I have to search again in order to place a vote. When I'm there, I can't see if I already voted and if so what I've voted. If I want to also leave a comment, I have to click some more times.
I know I've exaggerated a bit, but I hope you get what I mean.
But how are DI's style thread gonna fix that?
It'll give you all you want in one place.
In the first post there should be the download link and if available also the tracklist.
Above that you can see what has been voted so far and it allows you to place your vote as well.
After the first post ppl can leave their comments too and all you have to do to see them is scroll a bit downwards and read.
Seeing ppl comment makes other ppl comment too, call it group behaviour
While I realise that CC doesn't have the advantage of DI of lots of ppl listening to the same set at the same time, the forum idea applies to here too. At least that's my take on things
Not really related, but I think 20 downloads in 3 hours is rediculous. It encourages ppl to download that's for sure, but with 20 in 3 hours that's all they get around to do it ... missing out on the time do vote and/or comment.
My 2 cents

Sorry i've been a bit quiet at the moment - personal circumstances dictate this. Still ensured donations though. Even if I am silenced for a while, it has to be noted I still appreciate the great sets we have here at CC! |

i totally agree with you..and sometimes i vote after i listend first time..sometimes later..so it can happen..when i had no time to listen more often, then i dunno if i already voted for this mix or not. and its really bit complicated to read the comments..go back and vote..such things.
of course i can handle this...lol..but maybe its bit annoying for the members who only dl and dont want to search where to vote, where to read the comments..such things. people are lazy.
is there way to make it easier? _________________ www.loonybeam.de

Hello crystal clouds team and members,
I am new here, I am from northwest of spain and I am unemployed but I read your November 2006 Newsletter and I agree with you. But unfortunalley I think the things you tell me are going to happen again. I only downloaded 8 trance mixes, but I rated and wrote later some comments at download section.
When I read your newsletter I had an idea about how to improve your site.
The idea is you can download mixes only if you write good critiques.
For example, the new member can download one mix so this user may write a comment and if it was useful for this community, dj's or other members can vote and rating you so when you have several critique points you may download a new mix, if not, you will need to pay to download or to wait one week or fithteen days to download another mix.
I took the idea from the "photosig" site. if you are interested, take a look to the web page to watch how they work. (http://www.photosig.com/) I Know my idea will be very difficult to make it because it would need a new code but maybe in the future would be able to work.
Also, Another theme, I found a link about free trance midi files that can be useful. The site is: http://midi.johnsteenbergen.com/
Thank you for sharing your mixes and regards from northwest of Spain |
