Anguilla Project : CC Spotlight 2009

Bio

Anguilla Project is two brothers from the northeastern, untrancied side of Poland. Julian (25 yr.) has been interested in music since times unlikely for Mateusz (16 yr.) to remember. Even though they began their adventure with music a bunch of years ago, the story gained more pace at the beginning of 2007 when Jon O'Bir discovered their talent and signed the From the Sea EP.

Afterwards the brothers took another step in their musical experience by changing into a more progressive trance sound; this led to making the great Floating Clouds tune. The tune was so big in the eyes of Markus Schulz and people listening to his radio show, Global DJ Broadcast, that it gained the honor of Global Selection three times in a row, which was never done before. These successes made them willing for more, and so they've produced a lot of fresh music, signed it and released successfully.

If you collect all the releases of these two guys you will get a total of nearly 50 tunes released on labels such as Recoverworld, Armada, Conspiracy, Infrasonic and Addictive Global. Isn't that a lot for nearly two years?

It may also seem that brothers producing that much have no time for djing, but they train themselves in this art, and they already had their club DJ debut and are looking for being booked for additional gigs in the future. Be sure to have them in your sights for the future.

Given that the radiowaves currently harbour many yearmix type shows to celebrate the transition into 2009, Crystal Clouds would like to hear your reflection on 2008 by filling out the questions attached to this article.

Special Resident Radio Shows Leading Into 2009

Crystal Clouds is pleased to announce that two of its residents Andi C and DJ Jerom have some fantastic "Leading Into 2009" Radio Shows to broadcast.

With AfterHours still plowing on strongly through the EOYC mixes, this is the ideal opportunity to take a break where necessary. Although with various different Special Shows going on everywhere and even the regular DJ shows, it can be a tough task to decide which to listen to.

First up DJ Jerom brings us another huge XXL Visions set. Episode 100 (the previous XXL) was an amazing 11 hours long and contained 100 of Jeroms favourite tracks at the time.

This time around, the NYE special full-length yearmix which starts at 3PM GMT contains 88 tracks from 2008 and should last just about 9 hours in length.

Tune into ETN.FM to catch this one!

BIOGRAPHY

Tom Colontonio has had music flowing through his veins since the age of 11. By age 14 Tom had already moved into the studio as a musician. For years Tom studied all types of musical genres from rock to classical but he soon found his true passion in dance music. In 1996 Tom picked up his first set of turntables and never looked back. Tom spent years as a DJ developing his technique and by late 1998 he was introduced the sound of trance music. On Saturday the 17th of January 2009 Intuition will kick off a new year full of spectacular events. Not long ago The Westerunie featured the jam-packed and exhilarating Menno Solo event, reactions about the venue were so enthusiastic that the Intuition Winter Event will be hosted there too. Following a sold out edition of Intuition at the Amsterdam Dance Event, Intuition Invites Above & Beyond at the Sand and the ever so lovely Intuition Summer Festival, the Winter Event at Westerunie will exhibit the musical artillery of Jon O'Bir (Vandit), Arnej (Intuition / Armada) and Mr. Intuition himself: Menno de Jong.

Jon O'Bir flies under the flag of Paul van Dyk's legendary Vandit imprint in combination with running his very own Conspiracy Recordings. After winning a Godskitchen DJ contest many years ago he has gained respect from many clubbers and colleagues through his energetic and perfectionist performances. His career has led him to open and close for the likes of Sasha, Tiesto and Paul van Dyk, resulting in a busier DJ-schedule than many his age.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish each of our members the very best for this tough holiday period.

Given the current financial climate and the direct results of it, many are experiencing hardship at a time when traditionally we should be celebrating.

Thankfully, Trance continues to grow strongly regardless and we hope that the continued supply of music via our downloads and the various internet radio stations will give each of you some listening pleasure this christmas. Otherwise, there are nearly 1400 sets from the past 18 months here on Crystal Clouds to keep your ears busy.

The Crystal Clouds Administration Team would also like to inform you that our availability over Christmas will be limited. Biography & Info

Growing up in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Conor Arkins was inspired from an early childhood by classic Ibiza tunes from artists such as ATB, Paul Oakenfold, Tiesto and Armin Van Buuren. In 2003 he made the move to Perth, Western Australia and settled down with the goal to transform the country into a trance nation.

In his time in Australia, Conor has successfully hosted his own 2 hour radio show 'Entrancement' that aired each week on www.ETN.FM, spinning the newest and best releases in trance and progressive. The show ran for over a year and a half and contained dedicated and perfected harmonic mixes from Conor himself, along with many of the world's most talented guests in the second hour. Such guests included Matt Darey, Mike Shiver, Mark Otten, Hawk, Sonorous, Galen Behr, John O'Callaghan, Solarstone, Thomas Bronzwaer, Jonas Steur, Ronski Speed, Mark Eteson, and Sean Tyas.

Conor has also been seen performing at one of Perth's former premier trance clubs, 'The Church', and was the #1 DJ for Edith Cowan University in 2005. However, apart from his own endeavours, Conor currently works for one of the earliest and true legends of trance, Matt Darey. He is the A&R for his Nocturnal radio show, which not only airs across 116 FM stations worldwide each and every week, but has its own Podcast available from iTunes, making it the fastest growing syndicated dance show in the world!

For the past two years Conor has been juggling his DJing life and his full time job as an Accountant for Coca-Cola, but intends on re-launching and reviving his Entrancement radio show on a monthly basis. Watch this space!

Above & Beyond Present New Anjunadeep Compilation

The highly respected Anjunabeats suite has recently announced that their compilation series is being joined with an Anjunadeep compilation consisting of a variety of deeper progressive tracks that have been favoured recently.

Converts tend to emerge excitedly from their first Above & Beyond gig experience and ask 'was that really trance?' The answer is usually yes and no, for while Above & Beyond are proud of their role in defining the melodic trance sound and their synonymy with the quality end of the genre, trance is too small a word for what they do.

There's no clearer example of this than the success of Anjunadeep, the trio's melodic and progressive house offshoot that’s grown from being a promising sibling label to a dynamic and influential imprint in its own right, winning fans such as James Zabiela, Desyn Masiello, Eric Prydz, and Laurent Garnier along the way, and receiving a nomination for Best Record Label at DJ Mag’s Best of British Awards 2008.

It's a progression which brings us to 'Above & Beyond Anjunadeep:01', the label's debut compilation. Anjunadeep stalwarts Jaytech, Michael Cassette (aka Komytea), Interplay, Joonas Hahmo and recent high profile addition 16 Bit Lolitas, are joined by newer faces like Colombia's Liluca, Russia's Proff and Canadian Paul Keeley, as Above & Beyond conjure up two CD's of spirited melodic house music. A special treat comes in the form of Above & Beyond's own remix of Radiohead 'Reckoner', officially licensed via XL Recordings for the physical format only.

2008 has been an excellent year for music so far and to top it off Crystal Clouds brings you news of two tracks which can be downloaded free of charge as christmas presents from the respective producers.

First up, The Thrillseekers celebrate their latest release entitled "City of Angels" which features huge remixes from the likes of Arnej and Genix alongside The Thrillseekers own.

It's about as hot off the mixing desk as they come; the new Thrillseekers floor-juggernaut has been primed throughout October and is now about to start consuming whole floors at one sitting! Steve premiered his elegy to the US West Coast clubbing scene at London’s Ministry Of Sound last Friday. And on the very same night Above & Beyond made it their ‘Record of the Week’ on Trance Around The World. With remixes now in full-flight (watch this space for details!) a pre-Christmas release is on the cards.
